Klabin achieved significant progress in its renewable energy matrix indicator. There was a reduction in the consumption of non-renewable fuels such as fuel oil in the pulp and paper units and natural gas in the recycled operations.

In 2023, 100% of all the electricity consumed at the units located in Brazil came from renewable sources. The Pilar plant in Argentina is in the process of certifying the electricity it consumes.

In 2024, the projected percentage reduction in the company's specific water consumption remained above the 2030 Target, with a reduction of 36.7% compared to the base year of 2018. This performance was influenced by the increase in the volume of water discarded and the growth in production in the Pulp and Paper business. This decrease is largely attributable to the stabilization of the new operations in Phase II of the Puma II project, which were more efficient in terms of water consumption compared to previous operations. Specific water consumption = (total water abstracted - total water disposed of)/ total company production.

In 2024, Klabin maintained its solid waste reuse and recycling rate at 99.3%, with the Otacílio Costa and Monte Alegre units standing out, with results above 99.9% for the reuse/recycling of industrial waste. The PUMA unit achieved 99.78% recycling and reuse of industrial waste. The Industrial Bags unit located in Lages (Santa Catarina) began to dispose of sludge waste for composting and Class I waste for co-processing, raising the unit's recycling and reuse percentage to 93.73% by 2024. The Rio Verde unit began to reuse, recycle and/or co-process 100% of its industrial solid waste generated in its operations.

In 2024, Klabin continued to implement the hydro-solidary management methodology in forest areas in the states of Paraná and Santa Catarina. There was a fluctuation in the percentage of areas served, a natural reflection of the operational dynamics of planting and harvesting, which resulted in 96.3% of forest harvesting areas under own management having the hydrosolidary management methodology implemented.

Tree seedlings are distributed by donation and planting through the Matas Legais and Matas Sociais programs, to rural producers (Klabin's partners or not) in the states of Paraná and Santa Catarina.

10 benchmark circular economy cases in partnership with stakeholders.

The reintroduction project involved the release of 30 individuals of Black-fronted Piping-Guan (Aburria jacutinga). The first batch was released in March 2022, with 10 individuals, and the second batch in December 2022, with 20 individuals. In order to identify the expansion in the forest and the adaptation of the species, the technical team is monitoring these individuals using a folding VHF directional antenna, assessing their ability to survive, disperse and form reproductive pairs. In 2024, adaptation training was carried out for the new individuals of the vinaceous-breasted amazon (Amazona vinacea) and continued for those of 2023, with changes in the food offered, mannequins simulating predators and actions with noises to repel human presence.

During the target's evolutionary period, the first four years will be dedicated to carrying out the diagnosis, following a monthly sampling schedule. After 180 days, a final report will be produced. Based on the results of the diagnosis, implementation will begin of the actions planned or proposed as a way of reducing impacts and trampling, as well as reconnecting segmented forest areas.

The 2023 result was below the established range, due to climatic conditions that prevented the sampling of previously selected fragments, thus reducing the identification of forest-dependent birds compared to recent years. The methodological criteria were adjusted for the 2024 cycle.

The concept of lives changed was introduced in 2019 at Klabin Safety and refers to significant effects caused by occupational accidents considered very serious and permanent. The lives changed this year were related to Moving Equipment and Adapting Machinery, critical activities that have already been mapped. Specific projects to mitigate these risks, such as the man-machine segregation project and the NR10 and NR12 committee, are being implemented.

The 2020 baseline (KODS launch date) considers around 6.7% of critical suppliers covered in 2024. The criteria that define a supplier as critical are: value of Klabin's turnover (spend), representativeness in the business units (Forestry, Pulp and Paper and Packaging) and recurrence greater than six times (in different months of the year).

The Hearts and Minds (H&M) model consists of a culture diagnosis and has 5 levels. In 2023, the units focused on working on the opportunities identified in the diagnosis in order to boost our cultural evolution. Through the PTC (Cultural Transformation Plan), actions are being carried out on a daily basis and monitored via PLAK.

In 2024, the Company maintained the Phishing simulation campaigns. Additionally, in November, the current training solution was replaced by a more modern platform with more challenging use cases.

In 2023, we highlight the progress made in various projects, such as the implementation of initiatives like process safety, segregation of people and mobile equipment, digitization of processes and defensive driving training.

In 2024, the Company continued with structuring projects, such as the NR10 and NR12 Regulatory Standards Committee, with a focus on identifying the next steps for adapting and consolidating process safety. Progress was made in investigating incidents, enabling comprehensive actions to be taken in units with similar risks, as well as conducting Critical Activity Requirements (RAC) audits in all units.

In 2024, the company raised the percentage of locations with initiatives to increase water security from 78% to 86%.
