Klabin's employee base grew by 5% compared to 2021. The apprentice and intern base grew 6% in 2022, 62% of whom are female.

The ratio between direct and indirect in 2022 dropped 14% when compared to 2021. These professionals mainly work in support functions (food, security, concierge, and janitorial staff), as well as in maintenance, wood transportation, shipping, forestry, and harvesting due to the seasonal nature of the business.

The seasonality of the harvests, as well as the support and maintenance functions, directly impact the number of indirect professionals in the operations. In Corporate, we also have professionals from the facilities area making up the number of indirect professionals.

The representation of women in operations has been growing since 2019, when 15% of professionals were female. In 2022, women accounted for 24%, while in 2021 and 2020 it was 21% and 17%, respectively. The majority of employees are between the ages of 30 and 50, followed by those under 30.

The direct employee base grew by 5% in 2022 compared to 2021. Female representation grew in all position subgroups, however, the base of women in operational positions was 41% higher than in 2021, and in managerial positions it was 21% when compared to the same period.

The base for the indicator started in 2016, considering managers who already held or took on a top management position that year (for positions taken before 2016, even professionals coming from other locations are considered locals). As of 2016, the base was set and updated according to manager movement. The local community reference is statewide.

In 2022, 100% of directors and managers in São Paulo and 67% in Santa Catarina were hired in the same states as the operating units, which means that one out of every three hires made in Santa Catarina came from outside the state.

45% of new hires took place in the group of professionals up to 30 years old, 43% of whom were female. The South region concentrated the highest percentage of new hires, as the Company's largest operations are concentrated in this region.

On the other hand, the turnover rate was higher in the group of professionals aged up to 30 years and in the female gender, 27% and 25% respectively. The Southeast region concentrated the highest rate in the period, 20%, which can be explained by the competition for talent by other companies in the same region.
