Own areas certified

The certification process is firmly established at Klabin's forestry units and with excellent results from third-party audits, which recognize the continuous evolution of the quality of operational processes and compliance with the relevant laws and standards.

Klabin's forestry operations are guided by the principles and criteria of certification FSC®. The strategy adopted for certification is based on the analysis of supply planning that follows the S&OP (Sales and Operations Planning) concept. This process contributes to collaborative planning, with the effective participation of all areas involved. In 2024, a significant increase in the Company's forest assets occurred due to the acquisition of Arauco's land, part of the Caetê Project.

Geoprocessing and fire prevention measures

Klabin maintains a forestry security structure to prevent fires, and illegal deforestation by third parties and to protect fauna and flora, curbing the actions of predatory hunters and fishermen, invasions, and other incidents. This front has a structure consisting of mobile patrols, control towers, and communication equipment for permanent monitoring of forest areas, totaling 911,091 hectares of protected areas in Paraná, Santa Catarina, and São Paulo.

In addition, the Company uses geotechnologies and remote sensors to obtain information on its forestry assets. Using Planet, LiDAR, and ESRI Platform technologies, the company constantly monitors all of its forests and operations (including third-party properties). Image acquisition by Planet enables monthly monitoring of biological assets, including in conservation areas, supporting the model adopted for landscape management.

The use of LiDAR technology provides teams with digital models of the Company's forests, allowing them to track and monitor their evolution. This data is processed by the ESRI platform and the results are shared with local communities to support initiatives such as improving the territory's resilience to the impacts of climate change.

Chain of Custody and internal audits

Klabin's commitment to wood traceability extends to the production chain. The primary purpose of the chain of custody (CoC) is to enable forest-based products to be traced through all the processes, from the forest to the customer, to ensure their sustainable origin, by the strict FSC® and PEFC certification standards.

For controlled wood, Klabin carries out a quarterly Risk Assessment on the supplying properties, carried out by its team of qualified professionals who keep up-to-date on regulatory standards. This due diligence system assesses documentary issues in 100% of vendors, in addition to on-site inspections. Any discrepancies found are escalated for treatment and lead to the suspension of the partner's wood supply in the system until changes are implemented.

SLIMF FSC® standard

Klabin supports local producers in obtaining FSC® forest management certification by providing access to specialized consulting services. This initiative began in 2013 with the implementation of the Certification Program for Forest Producers, identified as GPMT (Médio Tibagi Producers Group) in Paraná, and in Santa Catarina with the Certified Mountain Producers Group (PSC). By 2024, 556 properties had been certified in both states.

In 2024, a contract review was carried out with the consulting firm 2Tree, limiting supply to Paraná to 62,000 hectares/year, instead of purchasing wood by the ton.

Klabin Transforma Matas Legais program

Throughout its existence, Klabin Transforma Matas Legais, focused on environmental conservation and sustainable development in Paraná and Santa

Catarina, has assisted approximately 580 properties.
In 2024, the focus in Paraná was on rural properties participating in the PBAI (Basic Indigenous Environmental Program) Ecological Corridors Program.

Klabin Transforma Matas Legais, in partnership with Apremavi, aims to preserve and restore native forest remnants, improve local quality of life, and optimize forest management through integrated property and landscape planning. The initiative includes the conservation of permanent preservation areas, forestry with native and exotic species, implementation of agroforestry systems, and promotion of organic agriculture and ecotourism. Plante com a Klabin program

Plante com a Klabin engages small, medium and large rural producers in the Company's forest expansion process, encouraging them to cultivate pine and eucalyptus trees in conjunction with other activities carried out on their properties. Participants are encouraged to join the Klabin Transforma Matas Legais program (which supports the cadastral and environmental regularization of areas) and the Small Producers Certification Program.

This calculation refers to the percentage of third-party certified timber volume compared to the total third-party timber volume (certified and controlled).

Klabin is a pioneer in having its processes and products certified by independent organizations that attest to their quality, credibility, commitment to continuous improvement and best practices in social and environmental responsibility, meeting customer needs and anticipating market trends.

The Company was the first in the industry in the Southern Hemisphere to receive FSC® (FSC-C022516) – Forest Stewardship Council® certification for its forest areas in 1998, and the first in the world to have certified non-timber forest products, ensuring the origin of its raw materials. In 2017, the Paraná Forestry Unit obtained Cerflor certification (Brazilian Forest Certification Program), accredited by Inmetro and internationally recognized by PEFC.

The incorporation of new territories is careful and adopts a rigorous evaluation procedure, with documentation flow, geospatial information, field surveys, and socio-environmental conditions.
